There are chair and umbrella rentals available on the beach and a few spots where you can purchase any forgotten items (Snappy Turtle or Publix). It is easy to lose yourself in the sparkling water, white sand beaches, and warm sun. This is a few days a year where we can slow down, enjoy the sand, sun, and not care about what time it is. The beach access is easy and close, we have found reasonable rentals through Garret Realty, and the location is superb. We've also visited and stayed at nearby Grayton Beach - we prefer this spot. We like this spot because it seems to be less crowded than other "touristy" beach locations. The beach is clean and beautiful (and not too crowded in October, still warm enough to swim). We've been coming to this spot annually for about the last 9 years. I see this as our yearly, family vacation spot!

Grayton Beach cabins get full quickly so you must book them a year in advance! The beaches are blue and the town has so much charm.
I have been recommending Seaside to everyone I know. There are no high rises along 30A and every community is unique. We also did go to Destin one night and I am horrified at how busy it has become since I was a kid roughly 25 years ago. I quickly told my husband that I wanted to go back to Seaside for the day. We stay in the cheap cabin (but nice) and then venture over to Seaside and we are able to blend in! However, I did feel uncomfortable visiting Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, etc.I paid $20 for a small bag of candy at a "candy boutique" at Rosemary Beach. My husband and I joke that we have the right idea. Yes, there are houses there that cost 1 million+ but people come from all over to visit. I see reviews posted mentioned that snob atmosphere that exists. It was very laid back and tasteful when compared to places like Panama City or Destin. During our time there, they had plays for children or local bands that would perform on the lawn in the evening. Typically, we would go to the beach at Grayton and then hit up Seaside in the evening.
The beach that we had access to at the Grayton Beach state cabins was just as nice as the beach area at Seaside. Snappy Turtle and hit the trails or one of the famous coastal dune lakes. The foods trucks that are parked in the center of town have good food and the atmosphere is relaxing. Beach is one of the many communities located along the famous highway 30A. Often, we would eat lunch on the beach-near our cabin and then would eat out for dinner in Seaside to save money or vice versa. Yes, the price point for food is higher but I would say that's the case with many vacation spots. Most importantly, it is what we could afford as opposed to renting a place in Seaside. While we were there we stayed in the Grayton Beach state cabins and though they were plain, they were clean and spacious. My family and I visited Seaside for the first time in September 2013 and we are going back in May 2014 because we loved it that much.
